Final Fantasy X released ATB system using a system called "Conditional Turn-based Battle" (CTB). In CTB system, each participant will be sorted in the race based on speed. This sequence displayed on the screen that allows to know the characters and the action turn or enemies in battle so that appropriate strategies can be arranged. Because the system is the basis of pure CTB-turn, the timer is not presented. This system is also used in the titles of pieces of Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance while using other terms.
Final Fantasy XI uses a system of "Real Time Battle" (RTB). Different with the games in the previous Final Fantasy series, the characters no longer stand silent while waiting for their turn to attack. The fight happened in real time in which the characters can move freely. Once you select an enemy target, the character will automatically perform the physical attacks that basis unless instructed by a player to perform other actions through commands based menus. But unlike in the at-TEBAS mmorpg, attack speed, and dodge the blows of the character is determined by the statistical system of the game, not the input from the players.
Final Fantasy XII battle system similar to Final Fantasy XI, called the system "Active Dimension Battle (ADB). This system is similar to the RTB system in which the characters can move freely during the fight and after determining the target enemy, the character will automatically perform the physical attacks that basis. However, besides that there was also a timer like ATB system that shows when a character can act. Mode-mode "active" and "waiting" is also used again. Another important addition to the battle system in this game of Gambit system, in which artificial intelligence (AI) group member can be set to automatically execute certain commands without waiting for input from the players.
Unlike the previous games, battles in Final Fantasy XI and Final Fantasy XII will occur directly in the display field, without a separate battle screen caused by the "random battle".
